I saw this lovely flower-entwined nest with chocolate truffle-filled eggs in my inbox this morning and instantly thought "ooohh, nice colors, that would make an excellent color spot!" Well, that and mmmm that looks yummy! It also gave me the perfect opportunity to try out the Instant ColorBar action from the Coffeeshop Blog I downloaded a while ago and hadn't had the chance to use it--it' works fabulously, you should get it.

Wow, my first post in the new year--and the month is already half over! Well, now that all the Christmas decorations have been packed and put away for next Christmas, I can concentrate on the upcoming task of the annual tax return (blech). Not a task I am looking forward to. Every year, I have every intention of doing it really early jut to get it done and out of the way, and then I end up scrambling the last week before the deadline to finish it! Well, not this year, she said with every confidence; this year will be different! No, really, I mean it!
These Banana Nut Muffins I found on the Betty Crocker site look like a welcomed distraction from the long, strenuous process of receipt organization and figuring out deductions. I bet you wondered how I was going to get from Taxes to food to Color Spots, didn't you? Easy, there is always a way to connect food to just about any task you can think of, right?

Now, I'm not usually one to go for cutesy chachkies, but I saw these Christmas Salt and Pepper shakers at the Pottery Barn and they looked more like Holiday decorations. Well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it ^__*

Looks like everyone is skipping the Thanksgiving decorations and getting out the Christmas stuff already, so here is some gift wrap to get started. These are from the World Market site and I had a really hard time to pick just these few.

Here's a great Fall Centerpiece I spotted (get it?) on the Martha Stewart site that looks perfect for this week's color spot. I love fall colors--probably because my Birthday is in October. I ran it through Adobe's Kuler to pull out the color palette.
That's it for Summer
Saturday, October 1, 2011
Looks like Summer's over. One day it was nice and 80 degrees and the next day it was about 20 degrees colder. And soon after, the rain was back. Don't get me wrong, living in the great Pacific Northwest, I like the rain--just not non-stop for, you know, four months or so. I also enjoy nice, cool, sunny Fall days. Which reminds me, I better get started making Nick's Halloween costume. He wants to be Minecraft Steve (don't ask). I tried to get the Steve-Head online, but apparently it's quite popular and was sold out everywhere! But I managed to find some instructions to make it myself--sheesh, what did we ever do before the internet? Well, I better start getting out the Halloween decorations--time flies, right? I've picked up some great ideas on Pinterest already.
In the meantime, here is a shot from our last official summer outdoor cooking extravaganza. Nice, yummy corn to bid summer farewell. I got the idea for the color swatches from the Coffeeshop Blog. I used Kuler to pull the colors from the picture and create my own color swatch. If you don't feel like making your own, you can download Rita's here:
