Day 31- Demo pigs

Monday, January 31, 2011

These are my quick test pigs I made just to see if I can. I'll be putting more work into the next ones I'll make out of fondant for Nick's 11th Birthday cake. I couldn't find one at the store, so I'll just have them make the sheet cake and I will cover it. Wish me luck ^_*

Day 30 - Chef Katie

Sunday, January 30, 2011

Katie played chef tonight and took over the Family Room. Here she is posing for a publicity shot for the restaurant :D

Day 29 - Pizza Night

Saturday, January 29, 2011

Here's a nice picture of the pizzas before they went into the oven. Everyone got to make their own, Nick and Katie each made one and I had another for Mark and me. So, since we can only bake one at a time, it took a little while to get them all done.
And--this would be why I don't have an after--we ate them!! Sorry, got hungry, couldn't wait. But the befores look pretty, don't you think?

Day 28 - Eye

Day 28-365 Eye
Originally uploaded by scrapgeek/NKMphotos
We went to a school event tonight--the 'Art-walk' where all grades exhibited their various art projects. This was the event Nick had created the Spaceneedle structure for. Katie's project had been to make a fish out of recyclables. So, while we took a break, I got Katie to pose for some close-ups. I told her I wanted to take a picture of her eyeballs and, for once, she actually cooperated.

Day 27- Branch

Day 27-365 Branch
Originally uploaded by scrapgeek/NKMphotos
What a day! Work, work, work--I didn't even get a minute to take a picture at the office, except during lunch. We managed to avoid meetings and it wasn't raining, so we grabbed our cameras and took advantage of this rare opportunity :D

Day 26 - USB

Day 26-365 - USB
Originally uploaded by scrapgeek/NKMphotos
More office-themed items for this, day 26 of, how long did I say I was going to do this? Three hundred and what?
Well, moving on, today's entry, my super-exciting USB port.

Day 25 - en garde!

Tuesday, January 25, 2011

Day two of this week's office theme features the Acrobots I bought a couple of years ago from There bendable and give the typical cube-dweller much needed distractions from the day-to-day tedium that is work. I attached a couple of pushpins to act as rapiers--pretty cool, eh?

Day 24 - Eek, a Mouse!

Monday, January 24, 2011

Originally uploaded by scrapgeek/NKMphotos
So I don't run out of ideas too quickly, I decided to do themes and I have declared this week to be office week! Tonights feature: the tablet mouse, artfully adorned with a kitty-sticker.

Day 23 - "It's so fluffy!"

Sunday, January 23, 2011

Originally uploaded by scrapgeek/NKMphotos
Yay, I'm caught up. Since I didn't get out of the house today, I had to scour the rooms to find something to shoot--hence, Still Life with Shaving Cream.

Day 22 - Spaceneedle

What a great structure my son and his friend made from recycled materials for a school project! I don't know how they come up with this stuff :D

Day 21 - wheel

Originally uploaded by scrapgeek/NKMphotos
My one and only shot for the day--blurry! But, all was not lost, Pixelbender to the rescue. Phasers on stun, options on oilpaint and presto--clever oil painting. Whew!

2 days to catch up...

Yup, I'm still doing the 365! I'm hoping to catch up today, so wish me luck. If you'd like to see what I've got so far, head on over to my Photoblog and leave me some blog-love.

Day 20 - Heart

Originally uploaded by scrapgeek/NKMphotos
I'm slowly catching up. I have pictures in camera, I just haven't downloaded and processed yet, so technically, I'm not really behind, right?

Day 19 - Elephant

Thursday, January 20, 2011

Originally uploaded by scrapgeek/NKMphotos
I know, I know, I'm still a day behind! I did take the picture yesterday, so that counts, right? (ha!) I just need to catch up--probably this weekend.
Anyway, I like my little ring-caretaker. He lives next to the kitchen sink waiting to lend a hand--or trunk--when needed.

Day 18 - Robot

Wednesday, January 19, 2011

Originally uploaded by scrapgeek/NKMphotos
Eeek, I'm a day behind. I took the pictures I just haven't processed today's yet. Anyway, this cool robot is a creation by Nick (my 10 yo) he just put together out of spare Lego pieces after watching Avatar just once.

Day 17 - pearls

Tuesday, January 18, 2011

Originally uploaded by scrapgeek/NKMphotos
I was cleaning up the laundry room and put some buttons away when I found these 'pearls' from an old costume necklace that I never wore. Being the packrat that I am, I kept it.

Day 16 - Pincushion

Sunday, January 16, 2011

Originally uploaded by scrapgeek/NKMphotos
We stayed home today, so I had to roam the house for today's shot. I found my favorite little pincushion in the shape of a dressform. I took a couple of full shots, but decided to go for a close-up shot focusing on the pin.

Day 15 - Marzipan

This year, we seem to have quite a collection of these Marzipan balls (Marzipankartoffeln in German). Usually, I get a care-package from my Mom in Germany, but this year I also found them at a local store, plus my sister also sent some ^_^
I may have to take some to work, lest we eat them all (hehehe)

Day 14 - Rarrr

Saturday, January 15, 2011

Originally uploaded by scrapgeek/NKMphotos
The first time I ordered something from, I found this little orange dinosaur in the envelope. I thought it was a mistake until I looked on the invoice and found an entry for 1 EA 'Rarrr' - cost $0
With the next order I received a green one. I wonder how many colors they have?

Day 13 - Library

Thursday, January 13, 2011

Originally uploaded by scrapgeek/NKMphotos
I went along on a trip to the local Library with my son's 5th grade class and their 2nd grade reading buddies. Everyone was very well behaved and we had a great time. Nick was getting material for his upcoming report on the International Space Station.

Day 12 - Smoke

Wednesday, January 12, 2011

Originally uploaded by scrapgeek/NKMphotos
I really like this tealight holder and tried a couple of shots with the flame on. They looked ok, but then I tried a few right after I blew it out to see what kind of smoke trail I could capture. I like this one :-)

Day 11 - The Pig-light

Tuesday, January 11, 2011

Katie loves her little pig flashlight she got for Christmas. She always makes sure she keeps it where she can find it in case the power goes out. :-)

Day 10 - Frost

Monday, January 10, 2011

Originally uploaded by scrapgeek/NKMphotos
Day 10 started out with snow and I was nervously eyeing my driveway and hoping we would make it out of the garage without slipping back down--the driveway is on a bit of an incline, which makes for great winter sports, but driving--uh, not so much.
Luckily it was just a light dusting and by the time I got to work it was slowing down, but not before I got my camera out and snagged a couple of close-ups of the vast amounts of snow--hey, you can't tell the difference from up close, can you?

Day 9

Sunday, January 9, 2011

Originally uploaded by scrapgeek/NKMphotos
A little experiment in the bathroom sink involving water, food coloring and oil. I planned to just capture the bubbles, but I kind of like the drain showing at the top.

Day 8

Saturday, January 8, 2011

Originally uploaded by scrapgeek/NKMphotos
Whew, one week and a day and I haven't run out of ideas yet--HA! Today's entry is actually made up of 4 pictures. I made some garlic butter from scratch (sounds more involved than it actually is) and decided to capture the steps--all four of them. No, really, that's all there's to it.
I also started to incorporate (read: hide) my daily identifier into the pictures. See if you can spot the 8/365 :D

Day 7

Friday, January 7, 2011

Originally uploaded by scrapgeek/NKMphotos
Yay, Friday! Except I had to work until 6:30 and no time to take pictures :P
Well, I guess my somewhat messy desktop will have to do for today's contribution. I promise to try to find something more interesting over the weekend.

Day 6

Thursday, January 6, 2011

Originally uploaded by scrapgeek/NKMphotos
Back to good old NW Rain--for this week anyway. Then it's supposed to get colder again (brr).
Here is a shot of Brain (Pinky is in the back hiding--Narf) against my wet windshield as I was parked way too far from the door where I usually try to get a spot.

Day 5

Wednesday, January 5, 2011

Originally uploaded by scrapgeek/NKMphotos
My daughter Katie was kind enough to supply me with today's photo--a Lego Doghouse, which I very professionally photographed with a backdrop of old Scrapbook overlay paper and illuminated by a table lamp and two small flashlights. :D

Day 4

Tuesday, January 4, 2011

Originally uploaded by scrapgeek/NKMphotos
Oh boy, I didn't take any pictures during the day today (work, work, work, you know?) So I got home, sat down on the couch--camera in hand--thinking "geez this is going to be hard". I gotta take a picture. What can I take a picture of? I'm at home, I've taken shots of just about anything here, what's left? So I turn to my left and spot my favorite vase and I think, hey, this'll work--snap.
Fire up Photoshop, run some actions, frame it, upload it--blammo--done!

Day 3

Monday, January 3, 2011

Originally uploaded by scrapgeek/NKMphotos
Whoohoo, number three! I caught this little frozen bud on my walk after lunch. OK, 362 to go (hehehe)

I'm doing a 365!

Well, isn't this embarrassing! I haven't posted anything since November! Good thing you can't see me, because my face is pretty red I can tell you.

So, to make up for it--and to make myself be better at blogging--I'm starting a 365 project on my NKM photos blog. So far, so good. I've got two pictures done and posted and today's picked out. As soon as I get home, I'll finish it and off it goes. I figure if I tell people I'm doing it, I'll be more likely to follow through, or I'll have to explain myself :&
Well, wish me luck.

Day 2

Sunday, January 2, 2011
